Know when not to wait.
These warning signs need emergency care straight away. Call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department — do not wait for an appointment.
Chest pain or pressure
Especially if it spreads to the arm, jaw or back, or comes with sweating or breathlessness.
Sudden breathlessness
Struggling to breathe, unable to complete a sentence, or lips turning bluish.
Signs of a stroke
Face drooping, weakness of an arm or leg, or slurred speech — note the time it started.
Fainting or confusion
Unconsciousness, a seizure, unusual drowsiness or sudden confusion.
High fever with danger signs
Fever with a stiff neck, rash, confusion or very low urine output.
Severe bleeding or injury
Bleeding that will not stop with pressure, a head injury, or a serious accident.
